Care at the Courtyard Veterinary Clinic for Bird & Small Pet Care in Visalia
Meet Our Veterinarians
Dr. Holly Sawyer
At the age of nine, Holly Sawyer told her fourth-grade teacher she wanted to be an author when she grew up. In fifth grade, she declared she wanted to be a veterinarian instead (or was it also?). She graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1995 with a major in zoology and a minor in English. She received her DVM degree from the University of California at Davis in 1999 and practiced in Vacaville, California, for a year while waiting for her husband to finish his DVM program.
Dr. Holly Sawyer has been with Care at the Courtyard Veterinary Clinic since November 2000 and truly enjoys the team atmosphere our clinic fosters. Her favorite part about being a veterinarian is witnessing the human–animal bond up close and personal, every day. She also loves educating clients so they can feel comfortable being an intrinsic part of the decision-making process for their pets' care.
In her free time, Dr. Sawyer enjoys romping with her two dogs, Schnitzel and Eli. She tries to sneak in hiking and backpacking with her husband when she can. Oh, and yes—she spends most of her non-vet days writing thriller fiction because that dream still lives on.
Dr. Barbara Johnson
Dr. Barbara Johnson graduated from the University of California at Davis in 1999. She then completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Following her internship, she was an associate for six years at a small animal practice in Woodland, California, where she gained experience in small animal medicine, surgery, and emergency care.
